Target: Vauxhall Zafira Car Fires / Please join our soapbox campaign for action
We are thrilled that we have secured commitment from the reputable law firm Kingsley Napley to support our campaign in assessing the viability of legal action against Vauxhall. We cannot stress enough how important it is for every single owner of a Zafira B car, both past and present, to come forward, sign this campaign and complete the questionnaire that follows to allow Kingsley Napley to take action on behalf of the group.

Soapbox acts as a conduit between the wronged man on the street and corporate malpractice, championing consumer rights, promoting awareness and attracting support where necessary whether legally or through the media. Proper representation should not just be a privilege afforded to the privileged few.

If you are an owner, past or present, of a Zafira B and have been affected by the Vauxhall recall shambles - whether through having to make mutliple trips to dealerships, being lumbered with with a car you not only feel unsafe in but now can't sell, increased insurance premiums, suffering depreciation in value, or an actual fire - this campaign is to ensure that Vauxhall take full responsibility and each owner is rightfully compensated.

Before being promoted on the Soapbox platform, a Facebook group was set up in October 2015 by Sue Freemantle and Claire Wheatley from Plymouth both of whom had experienced fires in their Zafira B models. www.facebook.com/groups/vauxhallzafiracarfires/ Jo Hunt and Dan Hunt joined soon after and are admins of this 16,500-strong group working tirelessly to promote the group's cause. They have had a huge amount of media coverage, two transport select committee evidence gathering sessions, meetings with MP's, and worked closely with the heads of the DVSA and more recently meetings with Vauxhall/Gm Opel engineers. All the hard work paide off. On Friday 28th April the Transport Select Committee released its report on the Vauxhall Zafira B fires. It says that Vauxhall have show "reckless disregard for safety".
The full report can be found here:

https://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/commons-select/transport-committee/news-parliament-2015/vauxhall-report-published-16-17/

IMPORTANT:

In order for Kingsley Napley to be in a position to take legal action on behalf of the group we need everyone who feels they have been affected to join the campaign, this can only have any chance of being successful if we fight together. The higher the number of claimants the more likely we are to get backing for this! We must not let Vauxhall get away with how we have been treated.

Please be assured that by signing the campaign your personal details will not be used or passed to any third party other than Kingsley Napley ( the legal firm that is advising us)  - we are committed to working within the terms of the Data Protection Act and have the upmost respect for your privacy and safeguarding your personal data. For you peace of mind you can find the Soapbox Shout terms here.

"I complained to the seller a major car company. notified UK transport agencies, trading standards and Vauxhall they never got back. Here is a transcript of what happened. However the seller did offer me a free mot £30 to £50 in relationship to its cost of over £8000.subject 2013 zafira b. Our Zafira B was purchased from a major vehicle dealer who has various outlets which include Vauxhall franchises. My wife had asked if this model was the type that may catch fire and if it was on recall? We were both told that this model was not on recall and it was the older ones that had the problem so we  bought the vehicle on the understanding that there never had been any recall on this year or model Zafira B reg No, DY63WUH. The date was 11/10/2016. Two days later we found after trawling the internet about the car that it had been recalled previously and had a second recall was outstanding. However we believed that the salesman was genuine and honestly did not know and as his company had never notified any outlets or even new about the car reg No. DY63WUH was listed for recall and that he was only there to sell cars. It then became obvious to us that this company had not checked out about any previous or outstanding product safety recalls which included safety work that should have been done before displaying and selling this vehicle especially with having a second recall. It was easy to find all the information on this matter on vehicle websites which they had not carried out. On complaining to the company they stated that Vauxhall do not notify dealers but just the keepers. We checked on the internet again and found out that the seller must contact the manufacturer to find out if any recalls are on cars that they display and then sell but this had not been done. The vehicle recall 16-C-050 has been carried out. However this company were under the impression at that time that they were able to display and sell a vehicle without checking for any outstanding recalls even though safety was involved. Various emails and phone calls about the matter had been made to DVSA, Vauxhall, and the Sales company but all the answers were very vague. Over weeks we lost thousands on the Zafira we bought but did get the second retrofit carried out immediately we complained and an offer for a free MOT for all the trouble caused by the seller. The MOT was a saving of £30 and the Zafira cost over £7500 We would like advice on the subject as we would not have bought it after all this saga. John PS to date no one came back with any good clear advice     "

"My car had a total burnout due to a fire which started from the vents whilst my husband was driving with myself and my four children...We were very lucky to escape as the car went up in flames within minutes."
Sioned-Jones (14 Sep 2017)
"Our car caught fire with 6 of us inside. Complained to vauxhall only to be met with very unsympathetic woman who refused to let us see the fire report. What are they hiding?"
Jillcrei (14 Sep 2017)
"My heating system packed in earlier this week, I took it to my local garage. Only to be told that all the wires connected to the 'new' resister, fitted earlier this year on its 3rd recall were all melted together. My mechanic said this could of set on fire. I drive around in this car with my 4 children. Angry is not the word. "
